First, let's clarify what we mean by resistance. We are talking about the ego's attempts to keep you safe, protected and guarded against change, growth & expansion.
It's our inner defense mechanisms, our psyche controlling our nervous system, established in childhood to protect us from pain.
What does resistance feel like?
Heaviness, exhaustion, low drive, procrastination, grief, anxiety, discomfort, obsessive thinking, avoidance, busyness, stress, overwhelm, stomach pain, etc.
How do you move through it?
You accept its presence and welcome it as a messenger of insight. You hold space for it. Don't try to fight against it, just be with it for sometime. Remember that it's trying to keep you safe. It's not an enemy.
You can:
*Take slow deep breaths
*Talk to your inner child with love, compassion & understanding letting her know she is safe to feel and be held
*Stretch
*Take rest
*Have a bath
*Go for a walk
*Connect with nature
*Have a tea and journal
*Give yourself grace
You can meditate with the intention to trust, find clarity and safety within yourself & accept the discomfort as a part of your growth.
Find gratitude for the deeper awareness.
Remember your strength, courage and resilience.
The ego is afraid of the unknown. Of the past repeating itself. Of getting hurt again. Ultimately of its own death.
You can't repress it, deny it or run from it. It will only get louder and louder. It's like a wounded little child, with unmet emotional needs, waiting to be fully seen, heard, accepted and loved.
As long as you honour it and keep moving forward, you are healing your deepest core wounds.
Over time, as you keep working through it, by holding space and listening, the force will lose its power and become more integrated.
You might still feel those pings or warning signs, but the symptoms will be less powerful and you will know the process well & be able to move through it with greater love, compassion, ease & awareness.
You are evolving. Even if it feels like you're falling backwards sometimes. You're simply contracting. An integral part of your healing journey, a deepening and integration, before the next level of your expansion.
It's the spiral of life.
